FAQ:

What is Anama Yoga?
Anama means nameless; formless.
Yoga may assume any or all forms of creation.  This is why it is an art of both transcendence as well a science of being present. This is why it is an eternal practice.
Beyond all forms, beyond all names, is Unity. It is Unity that extends to the largest, cosmic level of all creation, time and space. It is a unity that extends to the smallest subatomic, building blocks of existence. Beyond the form, beyond the name, is Unity. All else is simply a momentary, fleeting, and illusory glimpse- a single smiling face of of creation.  Anama is that which reminds us to open ourselves to exist beyond mere forms and names. It is the divine Union possible in every moment as we discover the deeper universal truth already present within each of us.  The facets of the path are infinite. Whether you prefer to make asanas, meditations, laughter or simply breathe deep and rejoice in the essence of your own BE-ing - the vessel matters not. By learning to tune in and be receptive we will all arrive. OM

Is Anama Yoga something new then?
No. Nothing is ever created. Nothing is every destroyed. We are curators, not creators. Originally revealed to the early masters during periods of deep meditation, Yoga - in any of its forms - helps unite one with his/her deeper energetic and spiritual essence.  It is the interface that allows one to greater understand his/her evolution through nature (prakriti) as spirit (purusha).  Though we now have many famous teachers and trendy schools, it should be remembered that at its essence Yoga does not have a human owner or creator. Instead, from its source,  springs the self-knowledge necessary to shows each of us our greatest potential (dharma)  to contribute to creation.  In other words, the source of what Yoga reveals is already within each and every person. It is a simply a matter of yoking with these ever subtler, powerful aspects of Self.  What most people think of as “practicing yoga” – ie asanas, or its physical form – is simply one of many doors to Self Realization.

There as many paths as there are practitioners – a diversity celebrated in the traditional context, but something often forgotten in today. Every point in between is a celebration of the sacred thread of being that runs through ALL.

WHO is this course intended for?
The Living Yoga Immersion is for ANYONE who wants to deepen their practice of Yoga. During the course we will explore many aspects of sharing the science with others (ie teaching), however you need not have the desire the teach. Many begin the course with little or no desire to teach, however will discover that this act of giving simply becomes an extension of what they initially viewed as a personal practice.

Are there any prerequisites?
An open mind, and open heart are all that is necessary to begin to develop one’s connection with the inner teacher; the Supreme Self. There are NO physical prerequisites  (though some familiarity with Hatha Yoga – postures etc – may be helpful).  Many students will marvel at how their asana practice expands by leaps and bounds during this year of training. Others, will find themselves peacefully deemphasizing this familiar part of their normal routine as they deepen their practice with pranayamas (breathings), kriyas (purifications), bandhas and harness the subtler forces at play. is is a practice to share with any body.

Do the modules have to be taken in order?
NO. While each aspect of the training builds upon the previous module, YES, it is possible to join a training cycle at any time. simply contact info@anamayoga.com. We will get you started on the self practices and ready to join us!

Do I have to pay for the entire training all at once?
NO. Yoga is about discovering your innate freedom. You are free to come and go as you please.

Want to recharge in a beautiful place & deepen your practice, but not sure if you want or need to take an entire TT?
Come for a weekend and see what you think!  See the RETREATS page for more details.

What happens if I am absent?
If you have to miss an entire weekend, you may do a make-up weekend during the next cycle. In some cases, you may be able to join another training group. We currently participate in trainings in Zurich, La Clairiere and Mexico. Usually shorter absences (up to one day) can be made up without attending a make-up session.

Why this training? Why NOW?
This is a complete program, following the footsteps of the ancient masters, while being grounded and centered within the present. Intensive teacher trainings where you may disappear from the complications of everyday existence for a few weeks all at once offer a limited chance to fully absorb, digest and make the practice a part of you.  I have often seen people reach a high state of peace and go very deep within their sadhana while safely detached from their normal reality, only to lose it all once they return to the routines and challenges of family, job and curban environment. Besides, there is only so much the body or mind can absorb in a short time. The extended 6 month format, gives you a complete understanding of Yoga as an integrated way of BE-ing starting from where you are NOW. Nothing formulaic or dogmatic.  The Living Immersion does not simply give you practices to follow. It teaches you the science behind it all so that you will be able to creatively share.

What are the origins of the Living Yoga Immersion?
It is said, if the only tool you have is a hammer you will begin to see the entire world as a nail.  As he began to share the beautiful and broad practice all over the world, he observed a bit of ‘hammering’  going on all over the world. When asked by students who wanted to experience and share the richness of the yogic science in a way that extended beyond a single class, series or workshop, he began to meditate upon what had allow the many threads to coalesce. TJ began to offer The Living Yoga Immersion as a way of giving aspirants a complete ‘tool set’ for the evolution of themselves, their students and their communities - one that is deep yet gradual, physically stimulating yet soulful and playful at the root.

What happens upon graduation?
Upon completion of the entire course, graduates may register with the Yoga Alliance as an internationally certified teacher (ryt-200). You will join an ever growing network community of teachers teaching on 4 continents (so far!) and receive support and guidance throughout all phases of your path as a teacher.
